Hot, Saucy Shots - McGregor vs Poirier

UFC lightweights Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will once and for all settle this rivalry at UFC 264 this Saturday Night. Photo Credit: MMA Fighting

Chuck Liddell vs. Randy Couture…Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos…Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier…Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard…the UFC has seen its share of trilogies. But there can only be one that has ran the gambit of emotions and interaction the company’s latest trilogy has.

Whether it’s the art of irritation, hatred, knockouts, respect, donations to one another’s non-profit organisations, whiskey or hot sauce, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor have made their rivalry must-see TV. While all things must come to an end, the question is how the final chapter of this epic story will conclude. How exactly will it end?

While we can’t say for certain, how insane would it be if it ended with another knockout before the end of the second round? At UFC 178: Johnson vs. Cariaso, “The Notorious” shattered “The Diamond” (as featherweights) just 1:46 into the opening round. Seven years, 79 pay-er-views and ten pounds later, Poirier exacted revenge on McGregor, finishing the face of SBG International 2:32 into the second round.

Given the previous results, many pallets in the MMA community are salivating for the pairing to go three-for-three in the knockout department. This fight fan/reporter thinks the faces of whiskey and hot sauce will provide us with a different outcome. Who do I have, you ask...I’ve been deliberating all week and I have yet to come to a conclusion. Maybe a few more shots of “Proper Twelve” or “Poirier’s Louisiana Style Hot Sauce” will help me come to a decision. Fights featuring two of my favourites always give me that feeling of watching my two sons scrap in the backyard. I don’t wanna choose, but professionalism says otherwise.
