The Fans’ Corner - Chocolatito vs Estrada Fight Preview
This Saturday at American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Roman “chocolatito” Gonzalez takes on Juan Francisco Estrada in a long awaited rematch. The two have history, fighting at the back of end of 2012 with Gonzalez getting the decision on all three score cards and took the WBA Light Flyweight title back to his native Nicaragua. This time they battle it out for the WBC and WBA Super Flyweight titles.
The card as a whole boasts talent and excitement as Cecilia Braekhus (36-1 9 KO’s) plans to get revenge and take her belts back from Jessica McCaskill (9-2 3 KO’s) in an undisputed women’s welterweight affair. Austin “ammo” Williams (7-0 6 KO’s) and Raymond Ford (8-0 4 KO’s) also take a step up by facing Denis Douglin (22-7 14 KO’s) and unbeaten American Aaron Perez (10-0 6 KO’s).
Both Estrada (41-3 28 KO’s) and Gonzalez (50-2 41 KO’s) are coming off wins on the same card. Estrada’s last fight didn’t start in spectacular fashion as his opponent Carlos Cuadras knocked him down in the third, but Estrada managed to fight his way back into the contest and concluded the brawl with a TKO victory in the 11th knocking Cuadras down twice. On the other hand Gonzalez took care of work quite comfortably and left it down to the judges who named him victorious in a unanimous decision triumph. But, the question we are all asking is what is it going to be? Revenge or repeat? The guys from ‘The Fans’ Corner’ go through their predictions!
Harry’s prediction: I think this is a really good and feisty matchup. Both fighters have tremendous agility and speed but the power Gonzalez possess for a Super flyweight is frightening and is a worrying factor for Estrada. I’m going for a Gonzalez 12th round TKO
Fred's Prediction: This is a top level bout and hopefully we get the same level of quality that was displayed in the first fight. With both fighters now residing in the Super Flyweight division, the weight cut issues that Estrada claimed to have impacted his stamina in the first bout will no longer be an issue. This could be a big positive for Estrada but for me, I can't see Chocolatito losing this. He's been at the top for so long and I just can't see that changing on Saturday night. I'm going for Chocolatito by Unanimous Decision
