This or That…Why Not Both?
Pepsi or Coke...Starbucks (as I compose this from Starbucks, with a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade on deck…AAAHHH) or Dunkin’…Popeyes or Kentucky Fried Chicken…the pairings all align with the classic hip hop banger “The Choice Is Yours” from acclaimed hip-hop duo Black Sheep. The beauty of options is you aren’t limited to just one.
Ultimate Fighting Championship, much like its sports entertainment counterpart, World Wrestling Entertainment, has dominated its industry for an abundance of years. Challengers have come forth, but either found permanent residence ranking behind the lead brands or have completely faded into oblivion altogether.
Fast forward to 2021! The UFC is having serious pressure applied to it since the days of Strikeforce when it aired on Showtime. Funny enough, Showtime Sports has once again partnered with an MMA outlet in the form of Bellator Mixed Martial Arts. This broadcast partnership will only close the distance between the two leading brands of the fastest growing sports in existence today. Fight fans have been blessed with a weekend of pay-per-view fights, which get underway tonight via Bellator 260, as welterweight champion Douglas Lima attempts to defend his title against Yaroslav Amosov. The following night sees the return of middleweight champion Israel Adesanya as he looks to secure his third title defence, in a rematch against Martin Vettori.
Given that both cards are stacked with insane talent and are premiering just 24 hours apart, MMA Nation will be in absolute pandemonium. Which card will be better? How would a Bellator fighter fair in UFC and vice versa. As the kids say, this weekend in MMA is gonna be lit and I’m here for every morsel of it. The biggest winners from weekend…US!!!
The U.S. of A. is gradually opening again. No matter what method you take in watching these amazing fight cards, as fight fans should watch both, please be as safe, vigilant and peaceable as possible. I can’t wait to watch and recap this foreseeably exciting weekend of MMA action.
